PARKS

Springbok Park

This dog-friendly Park is situated in Hatfield, Pretoria, between Francis Baard and Pretorius streets (the entrance being in the latter). Springbok Park is a National monument (declared in the '70s) and hosts a collection of beautiful indigenous trees and shrubs. According to the Tshwane website Springbok Park was originally named Grosvenor Park, after Hugh Richard Arthur Grosvernor, Duke of Westminster, who invested in land in South Africa after the end of the Second Boer War.

Springbok Park's lush vegetation offers an Eden secluded from the traffic and surrounding city hustle. Many different footpaths criss-cross through the park and the dense flora creates many hidden-away corners and private spots. While this makes the park perfect for picnics it is not ideal to carry valuables and dwell  here alone.

Dros restaurant is situated on the Eastern side of the Park (Grosvenor street). Parking is save and the Park provides a lovely atmosphere. Springbok Park is definitely worth a visit - it provided a lot of exploring space for dogs and the beautiful garden is a perfect picnic spot!
