FARMS AND RESERVES

Hedianga Farm

Hedianga farm (140ha) is the outdoor adventurist’s must-do. Hedianga is situated in Swavelpoort, Pretoria East, and forms part of the Bronberg mountain range. It offers a range of activities including cycling, trail running, hiking and birding. And best of all – dogs are welcome!

We braved the 10km hiking trail (there is a 5km option as well) which took us just under 4 hours to complete (with lots of coffee breaks). During this time we encountered only 1 other couple and their dogs – not a crowded trail at all (and this was a Saturday)! The path was clearly marked.

Be sure to pack enough water, the trail doesn't offer any (only at the entrance).

On Wednesdays Hedianga farm offers half-price entrance fee (only R10 per person) and the entry ticket remains valid for a week.

All-in-all the hike was a pleasant experience – not too challenging and a convenient way to get fit and used to carrying a day pack.

Kiara is a mascot and permanent resident on Hedianga farm. She’s super fit and a champion trail runner! Chances are good you’ll meet her:
