The chronicles of Sally and Penny

In December 2013 Sally, a brown terrier girl was first spotted wandering at the Correctional Services in Witbank. Well-doers occasionally put some food out for her but nobody could offer her a home. On 4 February 2014 Sally gave birth to only a single puppy in a flower bed.

This time the well-doers notified PETS (Pet Empowerment in Townships) who took her in, removed countless ticks, had her dipped and vaccinated, named her and put a plea out for a foster home. On Sunday the 9th of February we collected Sally and her pup (Penny) in Witbank and brought her home.

Sally is very protective of Penny and does not even allow the cat too close. In order to let her settle in and recover from what must've been a harsh few moths, we will only introduce the whippets to her a bit later. She is very loving towards people though and have no problem with us handling her little Penny which still resembles a mole.

It is now 5 days after we fetched them from Witbank and yesterday was the first time Sally jumped on my lap for a cuddle. She is slowly but surely warming up to us and it is only now that she is willing to leave her pup alone for more than a minute at a time. We allow her to eat as much as she wants and her spine and ribs which so fiercely protruded at first is also starting to disappear...

Today, on Valentine's day Sally and her little mole Penny is a perfect example of what true love is. To adopt, please e-mail lisadiekat@gmail.com or michelle.petswitbank@gmail.com.
